WHAT you see is what you get. That best describes newcomer actress Lisa Surihani Mohamed.
Blessed with charming good looks, her laidback attitude will instantly make you feel at ease in her presence.
In case you’re thinking she looks familiar, well, Lisa is a face for several TV commercials, something she had been doing since she was just 11.
Now at 22, this Kuala Lumpur-born has simply achieved things a girl her age would only dream of doing. She holds a degree in law from HELP University College and Aberytwyth University, Wales, has done TV commercials, hosted TV programmes, modelled and now, acting.
Her debut movie — I’m Not Single — in which she plays the main role alongside heart throb Farid Kamil is set to greet fans nationwide from July 24.
You have been actively involved in TV commercials, then you turned to hosting and now, acting. What’s next for you?
I never planned my involvement in any activity in the entertainment scene. All the opportunities came knocking on my door and I took every single chance to earn my own pocket money. The same with hosting and acting. I wanted to give it a shot and see how far I could go. To be honest, I’m still trying to figure out my true potential. What will I do next? I don’t know. I’ll just go with the flow.
You have a degree in law. Any plans to jump into that field?
I’m still toying with the idea. I’m also thinking of furthering my studies in financing. But I’m undecided.
Are you satisfied with your first movie?
Frankly, no. There’s still a lot that need to be improved upon and I want to learn more about acting. While I was on set, I realised that everyday is a learning process for everyone involved, especially the cast. We learn new things everyday that can be adapted to our acting.
Some people see Monday as the bleakest day of the week. What about you?
I love Mondays. Perhaps some people perceive it in a negative way, but I take it positively. I love Mondays because it’s the start of the week, the starting point where you can plan your activities the week ahead. If I’m not happy, I always wait for Monday to refresh myself.
What do you normally do on Mondays?
While I was studying, it was always filled with attending lectures, completing assignments as well as revisions. But now that I’m no longer a student and concentrating only on freelancing as a host, actress and at times commercials, I have quite a flexible schedule. What I do on Mondays depends on the job. However, if I don’t have anything to do, I prefer to stay at home and read books.
